SINGAPORE, Feb 6, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - FoodAsia2012, the 18th International Exhibition of Food and Drinks, is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in contributing to Asia's thriving food and service industries as it will be showcasing exhibitors hailing from more than 50 countries/regions, over 12 per cent increase from its previous edition in 2010.
Held from 17 - 20 April 2012 at the Singapore Expo, the specialised show will provide a diverse and dedicated platform catering to the sourcing needs of trade professionals in the food and drinks sector. FoodAsia2012 will feature a comprehensive international mix of food and drinks ranging from raw ingredients to ready-to-eat products, from prominent local and international exhibitors such as NESTLE SINGAPORE and FieldFresh Foods which offers Del Monte branded processed food and beverage products.
As further testament to Asia's rising consumer expenditures on food and beverages and its importance as a key business market, this year's instalment will feature, alongside returning international group pavilions, new entrants namely from Chile, Mexico, Oman and Scotland.

Addressing the industry's important focus on food safety management and regulatory issues today, the 3rd Food Safety Forum brings the latest developments in food transportation, storage and cold chain management, as well as safety processes and updates on regulatory issues. Mr. Guy Kurkjian, President of World Food Safety Organisation, will be making his opening address as chairperson of the forum.
Apart from conferences, FoodAsia2012 will also be holding several world-class competitions such as FHA2012 Culinary Challenge - Asia's renowned platform for established and emerging culinary talents to gain worldwide recognition; as well as FHA Barista Challenge - a premier stage which seeks to boost baristas as a professional career and cultivate Asian appreciation of specialty coffee.
FoodAsia2012 will also see the return of the highly-anticipated Imperial Challenge, an international Chinese banquet culinary competition held once every four years. Imperial Challenge, a competition that highlights the finest of Chinese cuisine, will gather highly-skilled chefs from seven teams comprising Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Singapore. Representing Singapore will be Tung Lok Group, led by the highly-experienced Senior Executive Chef Li Man, who currently helms the kitchens at Tung Lok Signatures and Tung Lok Classics. Paradise Holdings Group will also be sending one team to represent Singapore in the challenge.
