| Ontario customers benefit from triple-play services via MXK, zNIDs |
Oakland, CA, May 31, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global pioneer in FTTx network access solutions, announced today a deployment of its industry-leading MXK(TM) multi-service access node (MSAN) system with Vianet, a triple-play services provider in Ontario. A combination of the MXK and Zhone Network Interface Device (zNID) Optical Network Terminals (ONT) will support Vianet's customers across the service footprint.
Vianet, headquartered in Sudbury, ON, made the strategic decision to offer its residential and business customers an advanced broadband network, and turned to Zhone's MXK and zNID offering for the infrastructure need of the project. With the goal of a smooth and affordable upgrade path, Vianet knew Zhone's solutions would provide just such an arrangement.

Longer term, Zhone's future-proof MXK platform offers Vianet multi-access points at highly efficient capacities and costs that will allow the operator to seamlessly and cost-effectively integrate additional broadband technologies such as 10G GPON as customer demand dictates.
