Vietnam Cable Television Opts for New Content Protection Solution from Conax

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, Dec 2, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Conax, a leading provider of security solutions for digital content distribution, announced today that it has entered a contract with state owned Vietnam Cable Television. VCTV is a MSO with 17 Vietnam cable operators and over a half million analogue subscribers. Conax will deliver a new content protection solution to VCTV's subsidiary VTV, the second largest cable operator in Vietnam, including Conax core conditional access technology, Conax Chipset Pairing and Conax nVOD to ensure maximum content protection.

With the pivotal contract, Conax solidifies its leading position within content security in Vietnam, one of the most populated countries and key markets in the booming SE Asian cable TV industry.

"After careful evaluation, we determined that Conax met the strict Conditional Access security and pricing requirements for VCTV's cable TV network, one of the fastest growing cable networks in Vietnam," says Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, President of TDG Corporation, a local contractor who signed the contract with Conax, on behalf of VCTV, to supply and install Conax CAS at VCTV.

"Conax is proud to be chosen as security partner for prestigious national operator VCTV," says Are Mathisen, VP Asia Sales, Conax. "Conax was selected from an impressive list of providers based on its strong security record, support services and reputation for reliability and integrity. With the VCTV cooperation, Conax furthers its commitment to providing the best security available to SE Asian operators for content distribution."

Conax Chipset Pairing (an additional level of protection)

Combining Conax content security together with Conax Chipset Pairing protects content from transmission through to the consumer device. Conax Chipset Pairing provides operators with full control of secure content delivery and provides necessary added-value for procuring the best content available from content providers.

Security for nVOD services

Near video on demand (nVOD), used by multi-channel broadcasters to broadcast multiple copies of a program at short time intervals, provides a high level of convenience for viewers to view a desired program at a broad selection of times. Conax provides the content protection necessary for a profitable nVOD operation, ensuring payment for content.
